Citrus tree pollination parts - male and female

Pollinate Citrus Trees Step By Step

First step: You will need to identify the male and female parts of your citrus tree. The male parts surround the female stigma. The male parts are long filaments with fluffy yellow pollen grains at the ends. The filaments are also known as the anthers. The female stigma is the sticky structure in the center of the flower.

Second Step: Gather some fluffy yellow pollen from the anthers of the blossom, using a small paint brush, cotton swab, or the tip of your finger

Third step: You will need to dab the pollen directly onto the stigma using the cotton swab. Make sure some of the pollen adheres to it.

Fourth step: Repeat the hand-pollination process with each bloom you wish to develop into a lemon. If the tree is too small be careful not to over bear it with fruit. The branches may be too weak to hold large amount of fruit.
